Our goal is 200 cars. And from what we are hearing we will meet or surpass that goal. Please pass this registration information along to your car clubs, family and friends. Please help to make the 2007 event the largest and greatest Vintage Celebration to date. Thank you. ACOT Well Represented at Midget Exhibit Opening ACOT members made up a substantial portion of the audience at the November 5th opening of the Saratoga Automobile Museum’s new exhibit examining the post-WW II "golden age" of midget racing. The exhibit features Solar midgets belonging to ACOT stalwarts Bruce Carman and Ken Gypson, both of whom gave interesting talks about Solars and what they knew of the history of their cars. Gypson’s car is complete, while Carman was gracious enough to remove the nose of his car, allowing museum visitors to see both the underhood area and the stainless steel frame. The third car in the exhibit is Brock Yates’ Snook Kurtis Kraft Offy, piloted by such greats as AJ Foyt, Johnny Rutherford and Bob Tattersall. The car has a custom nose and front bumper that set it off from standard KK’s. The cars are backed by extensive graphics using photos supplied by a third ACOT member, Les King. Members are reminded that they will be admitted to the museum for half price through November by presenting the ACOT membership car. Future activities of interest to ACOT members include the 2 pm, November 25th appearance by stock car greats Jack Johnson and Kenny Tremont Jr and a talk by Keith Herbst, author of a new book on midget racing in western NY. That program will also feature ACOT member Bobby Hart, who has agreed to talk about racing midgets in that era. I’m still working on a date for that event. Thanks to all for their support, Ron Hedger, Saratoga Auto Museum |
